IPSO in Malta

THE MALTA PROJECT

IPSO visited Malta in partnership with Sport Excellence. & Edu Alliance under the guidance of Martin Borg. A great weekend was had by all as we had 30 participants on our Level 3 Grassroots to Pro-Academy Course. The event & course was a great success as students of the game from all over Malta turned up with International footballers, journalist, coaches, players, scouts & analysts all looking to see what they could gain from the course.

IPSO delivered their world renowned Level 3 Course on Grassroots Youth Scouting to Pro-Academy which was well received by all.

On the course we had special guest Martin Gregory the former 63 capped Malta National Player, we also had another star player but this time as a student of the game in Andrei Agius from Hibernians FC one of the biggest clubs in Malta and current local champions.  Andrei is  another International footballer with a100 caps for the National team and still playing, add to this Malta women’s International footballers Charlene Zammit and Melania Bajada plus many more football professionals throughout Malta. Next to appear on the course was Brazilian footballer Romeu Pericles Romao who plays for Msida St. Joseph FC.

These were the professionals on the course but there were also journalists, coaches, scouts & analysts also participating. All these guys mixed with other students on the course who were just starting off in their football journey.

Martin Borg the main organiser for the event had this to say ‘’CSE is proud to collaborate with IPSO football to bring top quality education in football scouting and analysis in Malta. Colin’s experience and superb delivery made a strong impact with all participants and the feedback we have received is exceptional. I am only too pleased to facilitate the next IPSO football courses in Malta and I am determined to make it happen again this October”

Martin Gregory chipped in with his thoughts from the course ‘’After having observed IPSO’s first course in Malta last June, I surely recommend this course to coaches of any level, club administrators, journalist and even parents of kids attending our nurseries.

It’s an exceptional, highly interactive course that gave me a different perspective of how to observe players. It really helped me remove certain unconscious bias and helped me observe players in a more holistic manner. I’m looking forward to more courses from IPSO as I believe this organization can really help raise the levels of our game.

Colin Chambers from IPSO commented ‘’ Wow what a great and beautiful country as I have never visited here before, I’m really impressed! Not with just the venue and hospitality but the knowledge of the attendants on the course. Not only the professionals but everyone as the understanding of the game was very impressive. I loved the way everyone mixed in very quickly and there was no alter ego’s in the room as the professionals interacted with everyone else superbly with a great friendly atmosphere.’’

It was great to meet Andrei Agius and very warming to see that even super experienced people like Andrei still want to learn and improve themselves. We also had journalist Gianluca Lia from the Times of Malta on the course and he wrote this article about the event: https://sportsdesk.com.mt/2022/07/03/center-for-sport-excellence-to-strengthen-ipso-partnership/

All in all a great weekend with more to follow and we are back in October hoping to make this a regular occurrence in the future as we look to help develop Malta football in further football education.
