IPSO DELIVERS IN TORONTO CANADA

IPSO have struck up a partnership with NSCAC the NATIONAL SOCCER COACHES ASSOCIATION OF CANADA.
Within this partnership, IPSO will be delivering Workshops and Courses around Canada supported by NSCAC. We just recently delivered two Level 3 Youth Scouting Courses one in Mississauga and one in Aurora both were great successes and fully appreciated by the coaches and other participants who took the course. IPSO Train Rapid Bucharest Staff in the Art of Scouting & Analysis
In May 2024 IPSO had the privilege of training Top Romanian side Rapid Bucharest Staff and students from around Europe and Romania. Colin Chambers the Education Director had the honor of delivering the Level 4 First Team Scouting Course. Combined with a couple of top level games taken during the weekend. It was a great success for all who participated.
Spotting talent is a skill. It’s not easy to identify potential young players who can progress further in the game.
This course designed to build on the foundations you’ll have developed on the Introduction to Talent Identification in Football, as well as from further learning you have done, to help increase your ability to recognise talent in the game.
In this course we introduced the students to the key principles of scouting in and around the first team, including player reporting.
You’ll also be introduced to more sophisticated scouting strategies and how to effectively manage the talent identification environment at your club. Statistics and how data-driven scouting has made an impact in the game.
This two-day course focussed on critical areas of talent identification – the key principles of scouting, the importance of relationships, the latest methods of recognising a player to suit your club and the complex governance procedures surrounding talent identification.
A course designed to support scouts working in or aspiring to work in the professional game.
What were the learning outcomes?
After the students completed this course they had a much better understanding of what makes an effective scout at first team level.
After this course, the students now:
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of the scout, developing an awareness of good practice within a talent ID department
- Be able to perform the role of a scout, undertaking designated responsibilities within a talent ID department
- Develop an awareness of good practice within talent identification department at first team level.
The course is aimed at supporting scouts that work within the professional game. The basis of the course requires knowledge of the professional club’s recruitment strategy that the learner currently scouts for, along with the ability to draw upon previous experience in the role. A great weekend had by all and new scouts with the right knowledge to make a difference.
Christopher Telo
Christopher Telo is one of many professional footballers who have completed the IPSO pathway, all the way through from start to finish. As Chris comes to the end of his career he took the opportunity to join IPSO and learn new skills in the world of Scouting & Analysis. Chris participated in all the workshops and all the courses completing the FULL PATHWAY. PRESENTATIONS FOR YOUTH FOOTBALL PLAYERS
IPSO Education Director Colin Chambers delivers a presentation to the best 200 young players in Malaysia at the national headquarters the AMD. The presentation will help develop the young player’s Game Knowledge and Football Intelligence.
BEING TAUGHT ADVANCED SCOUTING PROCEDURES
Here the AMD coaches get tested in their observation skills and game knowledge when looking at players in youth teams. A thorough examination is provided of what they see, how they see it and the outcome of what should be implemented concerning the player at that moment in time. These workshops & courses are proven to help coaches improve in their observation as a coach which therefore improves their coaching methodology concerning the players making a faster development within the players they are coaching.
EDUCATING AND TESTING THE FOOTBALL COACHES
Here after we have implemented the new scouting procedures the coaches get to test their new skills by watching a live game and seeing how these advanced procedures make a difference in their observation of the player. Propelling a completely different view than first thought as they now look at the player from every angle.
MOVING INTO OTHER SPORTS ''RUGBY''
This time we move into another sport and train the coaches in understanding Bias in Rugby and Observation Skills that they can use within the game of RUGBY. Topped up with report writing and understanding how to build a database of reports on players within Rugby. Delivered by our scouting experts from IPSO the coaches look to see how these procedures can be implemented into Rugby. Supported by an expert Rugby coach IPSO can show the coaches the difference scouting and analyzing a player thoroughly can make in their view of the player making a better first or last impression of the player.
THIS TIME ''HOCKEY''
Moving into Hockey the same principles are required. As the game is played more similar to football it becomes even easier to asses and analyse the players. We teach the observation skills needed when assessing these players with the added bonus of not slipping into bias and favoring a player over another player for the wrong reasons. Again deep analysis overcomes this small observation and a clearer view of the player is seen so we can now improve the player in areas we may not of thought of.
NOW WE MOVE INTO ''NETBALL''
Moving into netball was a little bit more challenging but with the support of the expert coach in Netball it was easily transferred across to make clearer observations of analysing netball players.
GRASSROOTS WITH HYLLIE IK
IPSO recently teamed up with Hyllie IK, an amateur football club in Sweden boasting over 1000 players and 100 coaches. Recognizing the club’s potential, IPSO was called in to improve their scouting and coaching methodologies.
Travelling to Sweden, we conducted workshops and courses from our Football Education Program, equipping Hyllie IK’s coaching staff with cutting-edge techniques for talent identification and player development. Together, they fine-tuned coaching strategies, and fostered a culture of continuous improvement.
Already, the collaboration has seen remarkable progress, with Hyllie IK embracing newfound insights and approaches. This collaboration shows the power of teamwork and shared passion, shaping the future of grassroots football one collaboration at a time.
IPSO Return to Poland
IPSO returned to Poland for the first time in several years mainly due to the pandemic and other factors around football. But in our return, we came back with a ‘‘bang’’ as we looked to train 120 scouts as part of a unique program thought of and designed by KTS Weszelo football club.
What KTS are looking to do is build the biggest scouting network in Poland. It’s a unique approach as KTS have sold shares to the fans and now KTS want to give something back as they look to the fans and shareholders to be scouts. Not just basic scouts who have a little knowledge of spotting the best players playing in a game, but trained scouts at a quality level who can make a difference in the selection process for the first team that can improve KTS on the field of play and the club in general.
KTS turned to IPSO to train their scouts, and we asked why use IPSO and not any other education providers. Gregory Szenk the scout coordinator at KTS had this to say ‘‘we looked at IPSO because they were highly recommended by many contacts within the game and are one of, if not the best football education provider out there in scouting & analysis. Throughout the workshops this weekend we saw why and are very pleased with our collaboration with IPSO as the feedback from our scouts was fantastic. We are looking for a long relationship with IPSO as it’s important to keep our scouts up-to-date with the latest trends and procedures in the game.’’
The 120 students participated in IPSO’s Level 1 Foundation & Fundamentals and the Level 2 workshops 1-4 covering bias in scouting, youth scouting procedures, first team scouting & analysis and match reporting opposition analysis. A great starting point for their development as a scout is their football education in, game knowledge and football intelligence. Hopefully, this is the start for many new scouts around Poland as IPSO comes back to one of its major starting points when we started 9 years ago.
The work started on Saturday were we delivered 2 of our workshops online to 60 students who couldn’t make the live venue in Warsaw on Sunday. With the help of a translator and the workshops translated into Polish the students went home very happy with their new knowledge in the world of scouting.
On Saturday we had the chance to see KTS in a friendly game to have a good look at the players and to assess the standard of what we are working with. We were pleasantly surprised as the team looked very good and with a bright future ahead.
On Sunday we had a great day starting at 8 am and finishing at 5 pm were we delivered the workshops again this time live to 60 students.
A great weekend had by all and now we move onto the next stage.

IPSO BACK IN CHINA
AFTER 3 YEARS IPSO ARE FINALLY BACK IN CHINA BEIJING
After a 3 year gap due to the worldwide pandemic IPSO were finally back in China delivering two courses in Beijing.
IPSO recently made its return to China after a three-year hiatus due to the global pandemic. The trip marked a pivotal moment for IPSO, as it coincided with significant changes in the Chinese football league’s landscape.
Remember when China was all about throwing cash at big-shot International players like Hulk, Oscar, and Witsel? The Chinese Football League
has now shifted its focus towards youth development and local talent scouting. This change in approach has opened new avenues for growth and improvement within the sport.
During the visit, we took the opportunity to contribute to this evolving football culture by delivering a comprehensive course at one of Beijing’s largest academies. The target audience for the course comprised grassroots football coaches, seeking to enhance their scouting and analysis skills to elevate their game knowledge and football intelligence.
The program, designed to cater to the evolving football scene in China, consisted of two courses – the Level 3 Youth Scouting Course and the Level 2 Workshops 5-12, focusing on position-specific analysis. In total, 45 coaches participated in these courses, benefiting from IPSO’s expertise and international football insights. The Level 3 Youth Scouting Course provided coaches with a deep understanding of effective scouting techniques for identifying and nurturing young talent. On the other hand, Level 2 Workshops 5-12 delved into position-specific analysis, offering a nuanced approach to exploring the skills of footballers in specific positions. Feedback from the participants reflected the success of the courses, with coaches expressing their appreciation for the valuable knowledge gained. The practical and theoretical aspects of the workshops contributed significantly to their understanding of the intricacies involved in scouting and analysing young talents.
To further acknowledge the commitment and enthusiasm of the participants, we presented them with exclusive merchandise, including stylish baseball caps and tracksuit tops. The gesture not only served as a token of appreciation but also fostered a sense of camaraderie among the coaches, solidifying their connection with the IPSO community. The return of IPSO to China marked a milestone in our commitment to global football development. As the sport in China continues to evolve, we hope to have contributed, even if minimal, which could have a lasting impact on the growth and success of football in the region.
The IPSO Factor
To the outsider, the world of football scouting can be a complete mystery. As a more casual fan, you get told by an “In the know” journalist that your club is looking at an obscure player you’ve never heard of from the relegation zone in League 1, and then the next week you could be praising him in the ground, convinced that this new superstar is full of promise. A lot of the trust that these players have got “It” is placed in scouting networks, who spend hours poring over matches to make sure who the club pursues can be a success.
The people that teach scouts how to do their work, therefore, need to be professionals who know what they’re talking about. This is where IPSO, the International Professional Scouting Organisation, comes in. I had a conversation with Colin Chambers, one of the organisation’s directors, about how scouts are trained and why IPSO’s training equips scouts for the real world.
“When you come on our course it’s a shock, because some courses might only teach the basics. We go deep and do the job properly, leaving no stone un-turned”. Colin speaks about scouting with a passion, and has the background knowledge you’d expect from someone in his role. Our conversation swung from the tactical style of Marcelo Bielsa to the way that Lewis O’Brien, an upcoming midfielder at Huddersfield, was able to move off the ball in a match that Chambers had recently scouted. “It’s 2+2=4 compared to ‘I’m going to need a computer for this one.”
Colin, like many of the senior members of IPSO, still plies his trade in professional football scouting. As an opposition scout with Middlesbrough, he’s constantly on the lookout for those little details to see how a rival can be exploited. “That little edge can win you matches”, and it’s the job of an opposition scout to watch live matches (an honour we all wish we could have nowadays) and take live notes as the game goes on.
“You’ve got to be really knowledgeable at your job and know what you’re doing. You can’t be playing at this. You’re not looking at one player, you’ve got eleven players to analyse, you’re looking at how the team attacks and defends, you’re looking at the strengths and weaknesses, you’re looking at the units and set plays. All at the same time, without a video”. Whilst watching the matches at the ground might be a rarity nowadays, the skill and focus required to track all of these features means you need to be the best of the best at your job, with no room for error.
“If your judgement’s questioned, you’re not going to make it as a scout”. Colin’s decades of experience have shown him that the margins in scouting are tight. When the difference between “fast” and “good for pace” can fundamentally change a player’s style, there’s no room for misinterpretation, but that’s where IPSO wants to improve prospective scouts, and those with a dream within the game.
“We’re not here to make people look silly, we’re here to improve them. When they learn little things like that, like you’ve learned now, they can get better for next time. It’s the difference between a £20 million player and a £50 million player. Students will come on the course and be surprised at the detail, and they’ll come out twice the scout they started as.” I’ll admit myself that in that hour I didn’t expect to learn too much, but in that hour I didn’t just acquire new information, but new ways to look at the information I’d learned. My perspective had gradually shifted from “what” to “why”, a much more analytical and considered way of seeing things.
IPSO’s teaching is heavily based on not just classroom teaching, but all the little details needed to make a scout all they can be. Now, this ethos can be seen all over the world. IPSO have agreements with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Estonian FA, having delivered courses to the Director of Football for the AIFF, who was initially skeptical about IPSO. That was until he stayed on the course for two days, transfixed after an initial curiosity that was meant to keep him in the room for just half an hour.
From not being aware of IPSO just 72 hours ago, just an hour’s chat with Colin Chambers has made me feel not just more knowledgeable about IPSO, or even scouting as a whole, but has offered me an insight into new ways to watch and think about football. Having previously held only a passing interest in football scouting, I’m seriously considering looking into scouting workshops and courses, if only for my enjoyment of watching the sport. Our showcase delved deep into player and tactical analysis, discussing player profiles, team tactics, and how to analyse players to suit a club’s philosophy. Like chess, football is a strategy game as we were revealed the moves that will keep the recruitment team ahead of the game. Former IPSO General Manager Kamil Potrykus Joins Newcastle United

We are happy to announce our former general manager of IPSO Kamil Potrykus, 38, has joined Newcastle United’s Player Recruitment Department, Forbes contributor Marie Schulte-Bockum can reveal exclusively. The former assistant manager of the Polish national team (World Cup 2022) and chief performance analyst at Legia Warsaw (2020-21 season) is already living in the United Kingdom.
“I’m delighted to be here, I have great first impressions,” Potrykus said over email. Continued the Polish manager, scout and analyst: “Newcastle-upon-Tyne is renowned for the warmth of its people, its industrial legacy, and vibrant culture. Yet, for someone like me, Newcastle’s essence is perhaps best encapsulated by its football club. Besides past roles as an assistant manager, Potrykus has also worked in scouting, recruitment and performance analysis on the federation and club level.
In 2017, at age 32, he joined Poland’s U21 national team as chief analyst and helped the young squad qualify for the 2019 U21 Euros.
Kamil Potrykus Joins Newcastle United Recruitment Staff ahead of 2023-24 Champions League Season
When U21 head coach Czeslaw Michniewicz, 53, left the youth team in 2020 to coach Poland’s historic club Legia Warsaw, the mentee followed his mentor. In the 2020-21 season, Potrykus was chief analyst at Legia Warsaw, helping Michniewicz and his players win the 2021 league title.

At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Michniewicz (head coach) and Michniewicz (assistant manager) sat on the national team bench as Robert Lewandowski captained Poland to the round of 16, a sensational result for the team.
In June 2023, Michniewicz took a job in the Saudi Pro League, where he is head coach of Abha Club. Again, Michniewicz wanted to bring Potrykus along with him, but this time, the 38-year-old picked a different path.
Potrykus speaks exclusively with Forbes contributor Marie Schulte-Bockum about his decision to join Newcastle United, his role at the Premier League club, and his personal goals for the future.
Tell me about your first experience of Newcastle as a child. Did you ever watch the games in the 90s? Maybe you saw the movie “Goal”? Or knew Alan Shearer? What were your impressions of Newcastle growing up?
Kamil Potrykus: Football has been an integral part of my life since my childhood. While my own journey doesn’t mirror the cinematic narrative of “Goal,” there are moments that resonate with that tale.
One of the standout moments from my past is my acquaintance with Kevin Gallacher, a former Newcastle United player, becoming Sir Bobby Robson’s first signing as Newcastle manager. Through Kev, I had the unique honor of attending the 20th Anniversary celebration of Blackburn Rovers’ Premier League triumph in 2015. That event afforded me the unforgettable opportunity to exchange words with footballing stars like Alan Shearer and Kenny Dalglish.

Speaking of Alan Shearer, he wasn’t just another player for my generation. He epitomized the hopes and dreams of many: The local boy who scored 206 goals for Newcastle United and became a true legend of the game. Back then, I couldn’t have imagined that someday our paths would one day cross and that I’d become an integral part of the storied club that is Newcastle.
Tell me how you and the club came together. Did you apply, pitch yourself to a contact, have an “in”? Or did someone from the club try to recruit you, perhaps?
Potrykus: After nearly a decade working alongside manager Czesław Michniewicz, and achieving practically everything possible in Poland as an assistant manager and head of analysis, I felt it was the right moment to put my expertise to the test. Despite Michniewicz’ offer of further collaboration and an opportunity from Saudi Arabia, I yearned to challenge myself in one of the most competitive leagues, the Premier League.
For months, I went through an intricate recruitment journey at NUFC. I was meticulously assessed by a diverse group of professionals, including members from the HR department, the Head of Recruitment, and the Sporting Director. Every phase of this process was thorough, reflecting the club’s commitment to excellence.

While there was interest from several other Premier League clubs, the professionalism and family atmosphere at Newcastle ultimately influenced my decision to officially join the Club at the start of July, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in my career.
Newcastle United is an incredible football club and I’m delighted to be joining at this very exciting time. I would like to sincerely thank the Club for their trust in making me part of a team that is helping the club grow and achieve long-term success. We are embarking on an exciting Premier League and Champions League season ahead.
At 38 years old, you already have a lot of experience at the international top level of football coaching, scouting and game analytics. What are your personal goals? Do you hope to be a first team coach one day? Or maybe a sporting director?
Potrykus: Throughout my career, I have accumulated a diverse range of experiences, covering everything from under-21 football to a senior national team, as well as collaborations with various clubs in the Ekstraklasa. Each of these undertakings was driven by distinct values, needs, challenges, and valuable learning opportunities.

With Legia Warsaw, we won the Ekstraklasa league title and qualified for the UEFA Europa League group stage.
The Polish national team is also a type of “club,” except it encompasses the whole country and unites fans and subjecting you to work under immense pressure.
Taking care of the best players in the country was a significant responsibility, a real privilege and fabulous experience, especially qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and helping Poland to the Round of 16 stage for the first time since 1986.

Team management is not only tactics and on-field matters; players recruitment is an equally important process. Making the right player choices is key to success.
While in club football, players are recruited to fit a preferred system, at the international level, you have to find a system that fits the players available.
The way I look at my own career is to simply hone my skills every day, because you never stop learning.
I don’t think many people dream of being an assistant manager when they are older. Most want to coach their own team. However, from the very outset, my goal has been to eventually become a sporting director at the right time, and I want to continue along this path. NUFC is a perfect place with experienced individuals who can guide me to reach new levels.
Share some of your ideas and innovations for Newcastle… any scouting software you want them to implement, maybe? And which players and executives at the club are you most excited to work with?
Potrykus: Working with world-class footballers whose expectations, as well as tactical and technical understanding are at an extremely high level, demands the same from us. We must ensure we operate at the utmost level as well. Therefore, I consistently employ top-notch work tools, including advanced technology, and I’m always on the lookout for new, innovative approaches. You can’t stand still.
My favorite tool is the advanced video analysis software Piero from Ross, which enables me to deliver high-quality content. Graphics play a crucial role in video analysis, as they closely involve the players in the analysis process.
In the 2022-23 Premier League season, Newcastle placed fourth, qualifying for participation in the champions league.
In my previous role with the Poland senior team, I dedicated a significant amount of my time to scouting and player selection, focusing on selecting players who are suited to the optimal level of competition and possess the right mentality.
At present, my primary responsibility at Newcastle United involves actively supporting the recruitment department in the selection of players for the first-team level.
Understanding and fully committing to my role, I will utilize my experience and versatility of skills to efficiently fulfill my assigned tasks and meet the expectations of the club leadership. This will be my daily focus.
Throughout my professional journey, I’ve always prioritized aligning myself with places and individuals that resonate with my values and vision. The right individuals and choices have played a significant role in shaping who I am today and have greatly contributed to my success in subsequent roles. I hold these values and consistently ensure that they guide my decisions.

For a while now, I have been following the career of the sporting director Dan Ashworth, and the head of recruitment, Steve Nickson, who, along with Eddie Howe at the helm, are doing excellent work for the club. While the club owes its success to the collective effort of numerous other dedicated professionals, it is primarily due to their contributions that I made the decision to join NUFC. I believe that collaborating with them will not only provide a chance for my development but will also pave the way for collective triumphs.
You took some time off after the 2022 World Cup. How did you spend the months leading up to your Newcastle United appointment?
Potrykus: Football is characterized by constant pressure, stress, and relentless competition; finding balance within it is crucial, which I achieve through my passion for painting—instilled in me by the late, remarkable artist Stefan Lewiński, who imparted one of the most valuable lessons by teaching me “how to watch” and see the bigger picture with attention to details.
I spent two months on the Greece island of Santorini, where I had the opportunity to visit two prominent painters and at the same time avid football fans, Christoforos Asimis and Dimitri Kolioussis, and indulge in the art of painting.
Malaysia Ministry of Sport

IPSO were back in Malaysia working within their youth development program.
We went over for a full week of education in scouting & analysis looking to train the heads of each province in Malaysia under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sport.
We delivered a comprehensive five-day education program aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of football coaches in the country. The program consisted of three courses covering Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 coaching certifications, totaling an immersive 40 hours of intensive education of the highest quality. We also delivered a seminar for young players which also went down very well as we educated them in what we do do and how scouts look at young players in their development.
The initiative marks a significant milestone for IPSO, the FAM and the Ministry of Sport, demonstrating their commitment to elevating the standards of coaching in Malaysia and paving the way for a brighter future in Malaysian football. The partnership sought to empower local coaches with cutting-edge scouting/analysis procedure to use in their coaching techniques, strategies, and methodologies that are aligned with international best practices.
Participants eagerly seized the opportunity to gain insights from IPSO’s expert instructors, who shared real-life experiences and case studies from their careers in football. The open exchange of ideas and knowledge not only enriched the learning experience but also encouraged a sense of solidarity among the coaches in attendance.
As the five-day education program ended, the enthusiasm among the Malaysian coaches was plain to see. Armed with new knowledge and improved scouting and analysis skills, they left eager to make a positive impact on the football landscape in Malaysia.
We also had some fun while we were there playing in a charity match as we cemented our relationship. Colin Chambers our education director took part in the game.

IPSO have again just recently visited Southeast Asia but this time to work alongside the ”Ministry of Sport.”
Although we at IPSO are working with many top professional clubs and many Football Federations/Associations this is the first partnership with a Ministry of Sport.
Such was the impact made with the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) we were invited back to work alongside the Ministry of Sport..

YUSUF IBRAHIM (Stood up Below) is the General Manager of the NFDP National Football Development Program had this to say about our visit: We invited IPSO over to Malaysia to work with the National Football Development Program (NFDP) under the supervision of Ministry of Youth and Sports together with National Sports Council due to some strong recommendations from some of our members who were fortunate enough to see them when IPSO worked alongside the Malaysia Football Association (FAM) in January 2023. IPSO didn’t disappoint and we were very impressed in the content, delivery and methodology that IPSO presented. Our coaches as well as myself took many new ideas in scouting that we had not thought of or seen before. We had a tremendous week of learning, gaining vast amounts of knowledge that will not only improve our coaches from a scouting point of view but also from a coaching point of view as there were many cross-overs that coaches could use in their coaching methods. All in all it was a very important week for us and our coaches. IPSO makes a difference and we look forward to working with them in the future. Congratulations IPSO knowledge shared of the highest level.

We were strongly advised to take a look at IPSO. I personally sat through the full 40 hours delivered over a week in July (only half of the education program). The realization of how strong the content was in the opening workshop on BIAS caught my immediate attention. I was transfixed on the information and areas of the game the tutor talked about that I had not thought of as deeply as they explained and it was really fascinating. I knew straight away that this was a good move for the Ministry of Sport and for the coaches in participation. We look forward to a long relationship with IPSO as we can see the benefits they bring to the table in our own education program. I had deep conversations with Colin Chambers the education director of IPSO on many different subjects on ways to improve our football over here in Malaysia. Thank you IPSO and we look forward to a long fruitful relationship.
ACADEMIA MANCHESTER TRAINED BY IPSO
In an exciting exchange of football talent and knowledge, 17 promising young goalkeepers from Spain recently visited England with Academia Manchester. The purpose of their visit was to enhance their technical skills in goalkeeping through a specialized training program. To ensure the best possible learning experience, Academia Manchester collaborated with IPSO, who provided expert guidance and tutoring to the aspiring goalkeepers. As a testament to their dedication and progress, all participants were awarded certificates recognizing their outstanding application and excellent standard of work.
The training program organized by Academia Manchester was specifically designed to focus on the technical aspects of goalkeeping. It aimed to equip these 17 aspiring goalkeepers from Spain with advanced techniques through a combination of theory and practical sessions. The participants received comprehensive training that addressed various scenarios they may encounter on the field.
To ensure the highest level of learning, Academia Manchester joined forces with IPSO, an internationally renowned organization specializing in professional football education. IPSO’s team of experienced tutors brought their expertise to the training program, offering guidance and experience to the goalkeepers.
Upon the completion of the training program, all 17 students were honoured with certificates for their exceptional application and excellent standard of work. These certificates serve as a testament to their hard work, dedication, and progress throughout the training program. They symbolize not only the technical advancements achieved during their time in England, but also the commitment and passion they demonstrated throughout the process.
Beyond the technical gains made on the field, the visit to England also offered the participants an invaluable opportunity for cultural exchange. Experiencing a new environment, the young goalkeepers had the chance to find a broader perspective, encouraging the development of well-rounded athletes who appreciate and embrace diversity.

WORLD CUP CERTIFICATION
Education director receives certification and signed shirt
IPSO are very proud of our education director Colin Chambers.
Many won’t know this but Colin was just recently working at the last World Cup in 2022 with the Polish Football Federation as an opposition analyst and he’s just received a certification of working at the world cup with a signed shirt from the president of the Polish FA as well as current UEFA vice-president Zbigniew Boniek.
Although Colin works as the education director at IPSO, he is still very active in scouting, working recently for the Polish FA as well as a consultant for many other FAs including the Romanian, Indian, Estonian, Uzbekistan and Malaysian in his role at IPSO.
We asked Colin how this come about and what his job entailed. He said ‘‘having worked with the Polish FA for many years we at IPSO were asked to train the Pro-Licence coaches at their FA once and we’ve always had a good relationship with them. But when Czeslaw Michniewicz and Kamil Portykus became manager and assistant manager of the national team I got a call from them straight away asking if I’d be one of their opposition analysts.
It was a no-brainer and I accepted the challenge straight away. My role was Saudi Arabia!
Analyse them ASAP as they are one of our teams in the group stages. That was it, within a few days, I’m on a plane to Spain to watch them in build-up games a few weeks before the actual start in Qatar in November 2022. I went to watch them twice against Ecuador and the USA. Very impressed with Ecuador not too impressed with the USA in the games but my main target was Saudi Arabia. After the first two games, I wasn’t that impressed by the Saudis apart from their goalkeeper who was of real quality in the games. I reported on them accordingly and that was it. A few days before the start of Qatar 2022 Saudi Arabia had one last friendly against Croatia in Saudi Arabia so I was whisked off there to do one more report this time in their capital Riyadh.
A big surprise was in store as Saudi Arabia was not as weak as I first believed, as they played their fringe players in the previous two games and they were not the side I first thought and the reality was they were a very good side and not to be underestimated as they lost 0-1 to Croatia but the truth is they should have won. Nevertheless, the report was done and the rest is history. We beat them 2-0 and Argentina lost to them 2-1. So hopefully my reports made a difference.’’

IPSO (International Professional Scouting Organisation), founded in England, has been teaching football scouting worldwide for almost a decade. Through Gábor Holdampf, the company has also set foot in Hungary since 2018, observers and coaches of many Hungarian clubs have also attended in the courses.
What is scouting about? The popular idea might suggest that it is a particularly simple job, you turn on the television, maybe even visit the stadium, follow every move of a player, and then write them down. Well, Gábor Holdampf, the Hungarian operations manager of the International Player Observers’ Organization (IPSO), shed some light on the picture.
“Colin Chambers, the director of the company, founded the IPSO project with 15 years of Premier League experience. He systematized the method of football scouting and analysis, the basis of which is the “Attention to detail” approach, which also serves as a motto: the big picture is given by all of the details. After completing the scouting course in London, I became the Hungarian representative of IPSO, and I was looking for a domestic partner. In the spring of 2018, László Nagy from Budapest Honvéd became interested in the project and they became the host of the first courses in Hungary. Their coaches and scouts participated the courses.
Other domestic and foreign clubs (MTK, FTC, Mol Fehérvár, Bayern München, Slavia Praha) as well as external students came to our courses. The IPSO “path way” became a complete football scouting and analysis related education system, operating both online and local courses.
Those who pass the exam receive a diploma from IPSO certified by the YMCA Awards. Live courses take two full days, and then there is an exam to write a report on a football player after watching a match live. During the course, it is possible to get from the basics of football scouting to the possibility of preparing a report whose criteria correspond to those prepared by Premier League scouts. Of course, you can only learn the method here, you can learn the “how”, all of this by using the IPSO book and some other their materials. Achieving a professional level here also requires a lot of practice.
The cooperation with Budapest Honvéd and MOL Fehérvár was excellent. During the course at MOL Fehérvár I worked with Tamás Balogh. He was the club’s chief scout at the time and now he works as the Eastern European consultant for Brentford FC in the Premier League. M4 Sport and Digisport TV also reported about the first course.”
The tutors of IPSO represent the highest level of English football with their long time Premier League experience. One of them is Steve Shea, who participated in the selection of the stars of Leicester City, who won the championship in 2016: he was also actively involved in the signing of Kasper Schmeichel, N’Golo Kanté, and Jamie Vardy. He is not the only one with close experience of the 2020 English top scorer in the staff.
“Colin Chambers watched Vardy at Fleetwood Town back in 2011 and early 2012. The reports he wrote about him are also a very interesting and important part of the course.”
Gábor Holdampf considers the training of football scouting is important from several points of view. Watching the game superficially, without paying attention to the small but important moments, can lead you to make bad decisions. Also relying only on data analysis – which became a popular tool these days – can also lead you astray.
“Data analysis is important, but it does not show the big picture by itself at all. It does not reveal anything, e.g. about features that define the player’s attitude, such as internal motivational drive, etc.. You need to know all of these to get the full picture, whether you assess an adult or a junior player.”

14 Years Ago I Began My Coaching In Grassroots Football.
I’ve coached various age groups from Under 8’s to Under 18’s and even helped with my son’s Sunday League Team. I thought I had a good knowledge of the game and really enjoyed my time helping young people become better players on and off the pitch. Christmas 2021 was a day that changed my life. We bought our four boys a trial with UK Soccer Trials, a chance for them to display their talents in front of a number of Scouts including the Premier League. Unfortunately, my misconception of what Scouting was about meant that we weren’t prepared properly and none of my lads were chosen for Trials. However, I had spoken to a few of the Scouts attending and pointed out a few of the talented players I had seen and a couple of them suggested I had an eye for talent and should look at becoming a scout myself. I searched the internet, hungry for information, and came across a few Scouting workshops and courses to which I signed up and began my learning. I contacted a few local clubs and offered my services on a voluntary basis to put into practice what I thought I had learned.
Basingstoke Town FC took me on as a Talent/Tactical Analysis scout and I was soon away watching games and enjoying the live experience. After a year I thought I was well on my way until I came across IPSO. They were offering a trial of their workshops so I thought, why not !!!
After the first four workshops, it hit me that what I had ” Learned ” so far barely scratched the surface. The IPSO team were welcoming, engaging, fun, and absolutely jam-packed with excellent experience and knowledge. We even had specialists in their field ( Goalkeeper ) and former International players as guests sharing their knowledge and sharing their contact details for after-support. Since then I have booked onto all 12 workshops, completed Level 1, and I’m halfway through Level 3. Each day I sit and absorb the wealth of knowledge pouring from their specialist tutors and scribble away on my note pad trying not to miss a thing. My confidence with coaching has improved, my confidence in becoming a Scout is growing and I’m super excited to see where this journey will take me. The one thing I do know is that I’m now on the right road to take me on my journey to become a scout and I know with the IPSO team behind me, my destination is one step closer with each Workshop and Course. These guys truly know their stuff and you couldn’t find a better place to learn. Whether you are a Coach, Agent, Manager, Teacher, or just want to expand your football knowledge, IPSO is the place you want to head. They are the Premier League of Scouting and I’m so glad I found them. My only regret is that I wished i’d found them earlier.

Shkumbin Sopjani runs a youth academy in Kosovo, it’s called the Sh F Pro Prishtina academy football.
Shkumbin is the manager at Pro Prishtina football academy, and has been there for 2 years, where the academy currently has 28 employees to look after 547 students who follow the excellent coaching and education programs delivered within the academy. The aim of the academy is to create young and talented footballers to have a future within football but not only in Kosovo but other countries as they develop.
We found IPSO through the facebook platform and we did a compulsive research looking at many football education providers but we were convinced that IPSO is what we have been looking for for years, and I am very happy that I personally had the opportunity to study with IPSO first. I jumped onto the workshops and courses. I was then very fortunate finding a mentor like Colin Chambers who is just one of the IPSO team who not only taught us great football knowledge but took time out to make sure it was clear and understanding as English is not my first language. This is so important for everyone to know as nothing was too much trouble and occasionally explained two or three times to make sure I had understood the point or learning moment that was being explained. It was very necessary for me knowing this new knowledge, as at our academy we have many talents, this education is a help for me and the entire Pro-Prishtina academy.

Closing of the Talent Search Course (Talent Identification) FAM 2023 Malaysian Football Association (FAM) together with International Professional Scouting Organisation (IPSO) celebrate the closing ceremony of the talent identification course at Hotel Armada, Petaling Jaya today. The five-day course that started on the 9th January was attended by 28 participants from every state in Malaysia where it was handled by IPSO Professional Talent Search & Performance Analyst Colin Chambers.
The closing ceremony of the course was completed by the Vice President of FAM who is also the Deputy Chairman of the Technical and Development Committee of FAM, Mohd Joehari Mohd Ayub this afternoon. Also present at the official ceremony were the Secretary General of FAM, Noor Azman Hj Rahman, FAM Technical Director, Scott O’Donell and the President of the Football Coaches Association of Malaysia, B Sathianathan. According to Mohd Joehari, FAM hopes that participants attending the course will be able to make the most of the opportunity to continue to forage new talents in local football. Obviously, he is optimistic that the participants of this talent search course have been able to understand the system besides learning to be among the important elements of national football throughout the program is implemented. “It is certain that FAM wishes to have talent scouts in every state where FAM always wants to develop and identify new talents hidden in the national football arena.
“Throughout this talent identification course, the rows of new scouts who attended the day had the opportunity to gain comprehensive exposure and knowledge about the duties of a ‘talent scout’. “What is for sure I believe all participants in this course have received progressive and proactive training and instruction where they have been exposed how to prepare more comprehensive and detailed reporting. “FAM is working to open up a new platform to the talent identification industry where this field is not the same as coaching and becomes something new for all of us. “Yet I am confident that the rise of football talent search in every state in the country will help FAM to continue to search for new soccer stars in order to achieve the long-term goals of the national football,” said Mohd Joeha.

Everything is working out fine as Paul Ogunlaja is set for the award of Best Scout at the African Illustrious Award 2022, reports www.totorinews.com.
Ogunlaja started out as the Games Prefect and football captain at at famous St. Gregory’s college Ikoyi, Lagos. Afterwards he gained admissions into Lagos State University and quickly became a name to reckon with, as he was nick named “kiddo” being the first player at his young age to break into the school team and winning the highest goal scorer award in his first year at the Deans cup and Vice chancellors Cup respectively.
He was voted the Sports Director of his Department (Microbiology) and later became the Sports Director of his Faculty alongside being the football captain.
He became a Certified Member of The International Professional Scouting Organization (IPSO) United Kingdom few years back with a Certificate in Talent Identification Youth Scouting and First team scouting in the footballing world. Becoming known for identifying talents from the Ages 5-17 and pushing them beyond our shores for further development.
Partnering with Osio & Tee international Russia has also given hope to young talented footballers to further their career in football.
In the space of three years, Paul is now a fast rising football Intermediary and a professional scout.
From all indications, this award is a beginning of more Illustrious achievements for him.

I participated in the course a few years ago before the pandemic. It was my best investment by far. I would like to thank IPSO personally for the skills and education they have given me. Scouting is not easy and there is a lot to learn and many levels to progress through to be a good scout. Julie is a native of the United Kingdom and has a vast amount of soccer experience at the youth level. She worked with the English Football Association in Great Britain, where she was honored as the first female to be elected on the F.A. Council, which is the governing body of all professional and amateur soccer in Great Britain.
After gaining U.S. citizenship, Hemsley represented the English National team as a player and as a manager/coach. While she was with the national team, her team advanced to the semifinals of the European Championships and was one of the top eight nations in the 1995 World Cup Finals.
Hemsley has tremendous knowledge and enthusiasm for the game which she loves and wants to continue helping people become involved so they can enjoy the wonderful game of soccer. Hemsley played for Brighton & Hove Albion Women’s F.C. for 18 years and then became part of the administration as coach/manager, helping the women and girls club be part of the professional club in England. Her playing days include three seasons in Sweden for Surahammar IFK and many county, regional and national games.
Hemsley‘s work in the United States has been with the New Hampshire Phantoms, Salem Soccer Club, Pinkerton Academy’s High School Varsity team, the Derry Eagles Soccer Club, MISL Attack Girl’s Premier Soccer Club, Hooksett Youth Soccer and the New Hampshire Premier Soccer Club.

IPSO Build Relationship with Rowdies
IPSO have broken into the USA and have now established a working relationship with one of the oldest and probably the most iconic club in America. IPSO will be working alongside the Rowdies and with it we will be looking to train staff, coaches, analysts, players and even the most fanatical fans in future programs as we deliver our education program that is endorsed worldwide by football associations and top clubs around the world.

Ipso were invited to Barcelona through ‘‘Got the tour’’ tours company. A company that organises tours and tournaments for all different levels of football around the world. The event was held in Barcelona were the IPSO team presented a talk and presentation to young players and parents from Orlando USA who are part of the Orlando City football club that play in the MLS. The event was a great success and the young players and parents approximately 80 in total totally enjoyed the presentation that helps in their development as young footballers. Not only did IPSO provide a great presentation but we were also on hand to answer any questions the players or parents wanted answering about their son’s or for themselves to gain a stronger understanding of how to help their son’s or daughter’s improve as footballers.
A great weekend was had as we watched training sessions and went on a tour of the famous Nou Camp home of Barcelona FC. We net worked while also socialising with everyone on the tour talking football, football football. John Higgins one of the organisers from ‘‘Got the tour’’ had this to say ‘‘It was a privilege to have Colin Chambers , Education Director for IPSO, with us at our pre-tournament training camp in Lloret de Mar.
The IPSO presentation was a huge success and gave our players, parents and coaches a clear, decisive and relevant insight into the possibilities of future personal development in football “Colin Chambers the education director was our representative and commented ‘’what a great weekend and what a well organised event I was very impressed’’ adding ’’The organisation and timings of how it was set up was really impressive and also all the activities they implemented into the tour was first class I couldn’t recommend ‘‘Got the tour’’ enough you can see they’ve been doing this for years.’’
The event lasted 2 weeks although the IPSO team were only there for the weekend but a lot was gained from it and the feedback from the coaches and parents of the interaction with IPSO was great. Here’s too many more events were we can help develop young players and educate the parents at the same time.
The International Professional Scouting Organisation met with the Orlando City Football Club, from the United States, at the Camp Nou. Home of Barcelona FC and one of the most impressive stadia in the world. It would have been rude not to have a tour. IPSO Back in Malta
In June 2022 we delivered our first course in Malta with over 25 participants. The course was a great success and the students have asked for more, so we are back for with a full education program aimed for this September 2022.
So from the 9th to the 18th September. We will be delivering our Level 3 & Level 4 courses with workshops in between for added education purposes in the world of Scouting & Analysis.
These Workshops & Courses are aimed for anyone in football from journalists to the avid football fan but are targeted for analysts, scouts, players, managers and most importantly COACHES!
Why coaches you may ask?
The reason being IPSO are now a world renown brand in football education and are the only football education company with scouting and analysis products embedded into coaching qualifications in Asia as part of Pro-licence, A Licence, B Licence and C Licence coaching qualifications. This is a serious must for coaches to improve their overall thought process when looking at players to coach or analyse. IPSO in Malta
THE MALTA PROJECT
IPSO visited Malta in partnership with Sport Excellence. & Edu Alliance under the guidance of Martin Borg. A great weekend was had by all as we had 30 participants on our Level 3 Grassroots to Pro-Academy Course. The event & course was a great success as students of the game from all over Malta turned up with International footballers, journalist, coaches, players, scouts & analysts all looking to see what they could gain from the course.
IPSO delivered their world renowned Level 3 Course on Grassroots Youth Scouting to Pro-Academy which was well received by all.
On the course we had special guest Martin Gregory the former 63 capped Malta National Player, we also had another star player but this time as a student of the game in Andrei Agius from Hibernians FC one of the biggest clubs in Malta and current local champions. Andrei is another International footballer with a100 caps for the National team and still playing, add to this Malta women’s International footballers Charlene Zammit and Melania Bajada plus many more football professionals throughout Malta. Next to appear on the course was Brazilian footballer Romeu Pericles Romao who plays for Msida St. Joseph FC.
These were the professionals on the course but there were also journalists, coaches, scouts & analysts also participating. All these guys mixed with other students on the course who were just starting off in their football journey.

IPSO BACK IN MALMO SWEDEN
This September 2022 from Friday 30th to the 10th October the International Professional Scouting Organisation will be delivering LIVE IN CLASS WORKSHOPS & COURSES IN MALMO (venue to be announced at a later date) delivering their Level 2, Level 3 & Level 4 workshops & courses.
This is a great opportunity to up-skill and learn about Scouting & Analysis from grassroots to the professional game. The workshops and courses start on Friday the 30th September were we will deliver our Level 2 workshops 1 & 2 starting with Bias In Scouting & Looking At Young Players & Team Shapes. Each workshop will take a couple of hours with a CPD certificate after completion. The prices is 500 Kroner (approx £40) for both workshops. That’s 4 hours of detailed scouting procedures and tips. They are great starting points to have a look what IPSO has to offer, it’s simple if you don’t like the workshops then don’t come on the courses. What we are trying to do is show you our products at a cheap price so you can see the strength of the material and if you like what you see you will progress onto the course the following days. No other provider offers this unique way of assessing what you will learn.
In the next 2 days we will deliver the Level 3 Course Grassroots to Pro Academy Youth Scouting starting Saturday 1st & finishing Sunday 1st October both days are approximately 8 hours each. You will have drinks, sandwiches and materials in books, folders,pens, note-pads provided throughout the day as part of the package on this course. The price is 4000 Kroner. (Approx £325.00)
The following Friday on the 7th October we will do Workshops 3 & 4 In Detailed Player Analysis & Match Reporting same again it will be a total of 4 hours gaining two CPD certificates.
After this you can then decide if you want to come on the Level 4 Course in First Tram Scouting. The prices is 500 Kroner (approx £40) for both workshops.
In the next 2 days we will deliver the Level 4 Course First Team Scouting starting Saturday 7th & finishing Sunday 8th October both days are approximately 8 hours each. You will have drinks, sandwiches and materials in books, folders,pens, note-pads provided throughout the day as part of the package on this course. The price is 4400 Kroner. (Approx £355.00)
