IPSO In Greece With PANACHAIKI FC

We are pleased to announce the first delivery of our TID course at one of the oldest football clubs in Greece.

The club is Panachaiki FC who play in the 3rd division of the Greek league. This famous old club is one of the original start up teams in Greece and was born in 1891. The event was organised by Mariyan Nunev who is the under 19 coach at the club. Mariyan was working for German club VFL Osnabruck and travelled to Ludogorets to participate on the first Level 1 course in Bulgaria. Mariyan then decided to move to Greece and his first thoughts were about how to bring IPSO to Greece and show what IPSO is all about to the coaches, analysts and staff at Panachaiki FC.

So the event was organised for the 27th November in conjunction with this great historical club.

Mariyan got in touch with Colin Chambers the education director of IPSO and Colin personally travelled to Greece to deliver this first and one of a kind course in Greece.

In the middle of the event Colin was interviewed and was asked about how the course was going and his thought on Panachaiki organisation and staff ‘‘ I love coming to old stadiums and historical clubs and Panachaiki is right up there with the best. The hospitality and help from Panachaiki staff was excellent as we were looked after like kings with nothing too much trouble. The coaches from the club were very well prepared and ready to learn with an open mind. It’s great when you see that hunger from coaches who want to improve themselves.’’

The course had an added bonus of a live game of Panachaiki FC v Nafpaktiakos Asteras FC which to our surprise is a local derby game as Nafpaktiakos Asteras FC are only a few kilometres across the Rio Antirio extension bridge which is the biggest in Europe by the way. So as part of the course and as there was young players playing in the game, it was perfect for the students to test their new found skills. We analysed a young 17 year old full-back and a19 year old winger. It was a shock to the coaches at how much they had picked up from the course and how their observation skills had improved dramatically.

Mariyan was really pleased and had this to say about the coaches ‘‘before the course we talked about the potential in young football players and what point of view we had about scouting. After the course we realised how little we knew and it was a little shock to the system that the coaches all of a sudden realised they hadn’t been analysing/scouting the players correctly to gain the maximum effect. The transformation of the coaches and outside students in their observation and even their football talk (Jargon) was massive. We hope we can do further courses in the future with IPSO as they proved once again that they are the best in the business and I was right to bring IPSO to this wonderful club to help everyone learn and develop their football education.’’
