Ipso were pleased to announce that Martin Dobson was the special guest on the course at Leicester City football club Champions of England.

Mr. Dobson ‘’ Known to many as Dobbo’’ is an ex-England international who played in central midfielder. He was an elegant box to box type midfielder in the Steven Gerrard mould. He was bought from Burnley in August 1974 by Everton and was the first player to be transferred for £300,000 a record at the time.

Dobbo totalled over 600 league appearances while playing for Burnley, Everton and Bury. He won 5 England caps overall, 4 at Burnley and 1 at Everton. His first England cap was given to him on 3 April 1974 in a 0-0 draw against Portugal. He impressed enough to win 4 more caps throughout the year. Dobbo had a long and successful playing career, playing for almost 20 years and finished his playing career with Bury. Dobbo became their manager until 1989. During this time they were promoted from the old Fourth Division and became an established Third Division side.

Dobbo was employed as manager of Bristol Rovers in July 1991. On 10 January 2010 he was appointed joint caretaker manager of Premier League side and former club Burnley, with Terry Pashley.

Dobbo then ended up on the coaching staff had then returned full-time to his role of Director of Youth Development at Burnley.

Dobbo has done everything in the game that you could imagine as player, coach, manager, youth development and also playing the game at international level. He is now a Professional football scout with the team of the year Leicester City and is looking forward to sharing his experiences and knowledge with you.
